Sticking to a workout routine can be tough, especially during the busy holiday season when work, parties, and travel take center stage. However, by shifting our mindset and developing small habits, we can make the process easier and more manageable.
Start Small
The key to lasting change is to begin with very small, achievable goals. Instead of setting an ambitious target to attend the gym five times a week and with 100% effort each time, and if you don’t make that, it’s not worth doing at all, aim for just one class a week. Also, one class can sometimes seem like too much if we are tired and busy, so just aim for one class and with 10-20% effort of your best performance.
Manage Your Mindset
If you attend a class and don’t try your best or give it your all, this is ok! It’s still way better than nothing. Just showing up and doing something and being happy with that makes it more likely for you to workout on the days you are busy or don’t feel like you have enough energy to train.
Track Your Progress
Keep a simple log of your workouts and celebrate your successes, no matter how small. Seeing your progress can motivate you to keep going.
Build on Your Success
Once you feel comfortable attending one class with little effort, gradually increase the frequency and intensity of the workout. The goal is to create a positive feedback loop where each small success encourages you to set and achieve bigger goals.
Consistency Over Perfection
During the holidays, you may miss a class or two. Don’t let that discourage you! Focus on maintaining your routine and remember that every little effort counts.
By starting small and focusing on consistency, you can develop habits that last beyond the holiday season and set you up for success at KBF and in your overall fitness journey.
